About me

Hi, I’m Michel Doppert. If we haven’t spoken already, please allow me to briefly introduce myself here.

I am a GE-Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with a passion for helping others on their path of continuous improvement.

That is why for the last twenty years, I have mentored, trained and coached professionals on the subjects of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement, both at a corporate level and at an individual level.

To learn more about me, feel free to watch this brief summary video I recorded and read on further below. Or even better, contact me on LinkedIn or through the website contact form!

Michel is an excellent coach who made the Lean Six Sigma training a really enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend!

History and background

My family roots lie in Indonesia, although I was born in Turkey and have lived in a variety of countries during my youth. This was due to the fact that my father worked for an American company and had to move around a lot for his job. Eventually my family settled in the Netherlands, where I studied International Law as a young man.

After completing my law degree I joined an International Airline, where I was first introduced to Quality Management and became certified as a Quality Analyst by the Quality Service for the Industry. Eventually I was recruited by the General Electric Company as one of the first waves of Black Belts to use Six Sigma in Europe. I was enamored with the data-driven approach of Six Sigma and due to my previous experience in Quality Management, I also appreciated the change management side of it.

As a next step I chose to become a GE-certified Master Black Belt and Quality leader, before finally moving on to the business side, where I assumed P&L responsibility in a variety of leadership positions. In those years my passion for Continuous improvement never subsided.

In 2012, I returned to Lean and Six Sigma and started providing training and mentoring again. Although many things had changed, my drive towards helping people improve their business remained unchanged. Ever since, I feel I have found my destiny in helping and mentoring others to continuously improve using the structure and mindset called Lean Six Sigma.

Current activities

I teach Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt courses at the University of Bedfordshire as lead instructor and director of The Lean Six Sigma Company UK.

These days I am also often busy mentoring and coaching ambitious continuous improvement professionals and assisting them with the design and implementation of their Lean Six Sigma projects.

The last few years I have also helped develop a number of self-paced online Lean Six Sigma courses together with The Productivity Company, an e-learning company that focuses on all-round professional self-development.

Personal life

When I am not working, I like to spend time with my family and at the gym. Continuous improvement is something I try to practice in every aspect of my life, whether it is getting better at my work, improving my fitness or learning new skills in general.
